One-Lunch Draft:
Themed activities will be held during one-block lunch on the first Friday of each month for the remainder of the school year, as determined at an administrative meeting last month.
The suggestion was brought up by Principal Rosann Sidener and the Assistant Principals as a response to the two-lunch issue. The activities are intended to act as a reward for the students in the hopes of promoting school spirit.
“We miss the way the old school used to be and our one lunch schedule, but sometimes you have to make do with what you have,” explained Sofia Delgado, Senior Class President. “This lunch should make students feel more at home with our new school and really boost school spirit.”
The first themed lunch on December 4 came in the form of an eco-rally dedicated to environmental awareness. Students are encouraged to approach the Student Government Association with future theme ideas.
“We want the student body to have a voice in what goes on at our school,” said Delgado.
“Our high school career is supposed to be the best time of our lives, and we’re just trying to change things up a bit,” expressed Delgado.

1. it was SGA along with the administrations idea, we all want and enjoy having one lunch but there just insnt enough money to pay the salaries for those extra cafeteria staff members during an administrative meeting dr. sidener along with the other AP’s brought up the idea and Reina and I loved it

4.This one lunch will hopefully encourage students to buy more lunch which will contribute to our overall lunch budget and I think its fun!! Lunch is supposed to be our break in between classes so why not make a regular meal into a memorable high school experience.
5. I dont think there are any downsides to the lunch plan. Its supposeded to be fun and promote school spirit. Money isnt really priority, of course we’d love to make xtra money to support our staff and be able to continue the themed lunches but high school is supposed to be the best year of our lives were just trying to change things up a bit.
6. The one lunch plan was not funded by anyone other than miami-dade county there is an anonymous donor but there is no decision as to where or how it will be spent yet. When we find out the student body will be notified. This anonymous donor agreed to donate the money only if the student choose where it should be spent. A survey will be sent out to all student to have there opinion count on that decision.

8. Yes, exactly a spirit booster..sounds funnny but true. We want Beach high students to be proud of our school. We obviously miss the way the old school used to be and our one lunch schedule but sometimes you have to make do with what you have and accept it. This lunch will hopefully make students feel more at home with our new school and really grabtheir attention towards school spirit. Beach high is an amazing school with great students and we deserve a reward every no and then.

Right now our first lunch is being organized by Student Government but the first lunch was pretty much decided by gabriela lins and SGA will definitely ask the students what theme they’d like to have for their lunch and try to make it happen. We just want the student body to have a voice in what goes on in our school, thats why we will try to get other students that are not in SGA to input their ideas and opinions.
